Sal Vasta has been a member of the Athletic Officials Association for more than thirty years and has assumed a role in the leadership of the organization as division Vice-President and a member of the Board of Directors for three decades. He brings a vast background of knowledge to the group by being a state clinician and an assignor. Vasta worked the Illinois High School Association Girls State Basketball Tournament in 2004, 2005 and 2007, and he officiated the state championship game between Fenwick and Bolingbrook in 2007. Sal also officiated the 2012 and 2017 football state championship games and the 2019 softball state finals. In addition to being a Hall of Fame member of the AOA, Sal was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association’s Officials Division in 2016 and is a member of the Chicago 16-inch Softball Hall of Fame.
