OTHO KORTZ

Serving as President of the AOA basketball division in 1969 and 1970 and vice-president of the AOA football division in 1967 and 1968, Otho Kortz had a well-rounded officiating career. Kortz was a high school and college baseball umpire from 1955-1983; a high school and college basketball referee from 1954-1986; and a high school and Big Ten football official from 1969-1986. Otho officiated the IHSA state basketball finals in 1970, 1971 and 1972; along with the 1978 Rose Bowl and the Pan-American Games. He was the Abe Glick Award winner in 1974. Kortz was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1990.
