JOHN HORNACEK

Refereeing basketball for over forty years, John Hornacek saw both sides of the out of bounds line by being an official and an assistant coach at Saint Joseph High School in Westchester for most of those years. As an official, Hornacek achieved stardom as he was selected to officiate the IHSA state basketball tournaments in 1989, 1990 and 1991. He was named the Illinois High School Association Basketball Official of the Year in 1994 and was a 1999 inductee to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. John’s son, Jeff, played 15 years in the NBA and was head coach of the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks.
