FRANK MOSCARDINI

Frank was the long-time Chairman of the Board of the Athletic Officials Association, occupying that post from 1993-2009. Moscardini officiated for 45 years and officiated the IHSA state championship game in football in 1991, 1992, 2001 and 2004. Frank received the Abe Glick Award in 1991 and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003. Moscardini was named IHSA Football Official of the Year in 2004. He served as a certified basketball and football clinician and assignment chairman for a variety of different conferences. After his death in 2011, the AOA instituted the Frank Moscardini Award, which is annually given to a first, second or third-year official that shows promise and exemplifies the passion for officiating. The award is presented in all sports of the AOA.
