Our Story

A Legacy Since 1917

The Athletic Officials Association (AOA) was founded in 1917 to promote and develop high school athletic officiating in Illinois. For over a century, we've been the premier organization for training officials across all IHSA-sponsored sports.

Today, AOA serves officials across six divisions: Flag Football, Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Water Polo. We're committed to maintaining the highest standards of officiating excellence while welcoming and training the next generation of officials.
